Thinking of buying a new bicycle? One of your first choices, and not necessarily an easy one, will be where to shop.
It can be a challenge because there are a myriad of stores that carry two-wheelers, from specialty retailers, to giant department stores, to backyard garage operations. Where you buy, however, has everything to do with what you get. You see, bicycles aren’t like toasters or suitcases. Bikes are shipped in boxes and they must be assembled and tuned.
There are many types, too, and you should never buy until you’ve figured out which is right for you. Measurements and adjustments are required to ensure the frame is the correct size and that the seat and handlebars are properly positioned. And, every new bicycle will need a minor tune-up after several weeks of use.
What’s more, modern road and mountain bikes can travel at high speeds and carry you over demanding terrain where the machine’s materials and construction get tested. A quality two-wheeler, carefully assembled and fit to you, will be the safest, most durable and fun bicycle to ride.
For these reasons, we strongly recommend shopping at a good specialty bicycle store in our area. For instance, we hire competent salespeople and expert mechanics who’ll ensure that you get the right bike and a quality machine. Look for a store that’s clean, has helpful personnel, offers a good selection, and an on-site repair department.

Clayton is a sophomore at Hutchinson High School. Outside of his wonderful work at the bike shop he is a high school swimmer, mountain bike racer, and active member of FFA. Clayton is a man of many interests that include gardening, fishing, and modifying awkward vehicles that aren’t necessarily cars. Clayton is EXTREMELY kind and helpful and we thoroughly enjoy him despite the fact that he can be a little too squirrelly. Clayton recently earned his Eagle Scout Award for his work with the Boy Scouts of America and we are extremely proud of him #biggestfans. One of our favorite activities as a team is trying to make Clayton laugh during lunch in an effort to make milk spray out of his nose. We have occasionally found success.

Bio: Calvin is a big dumb-dumb and attends NDSUcks (Chad wrote this and he has to make fun of anything NDSU because he attended the University of North Dakota). He enjoys volunteering with the Boys Scouts of America, visiting aquariums, and building robots for leisure and sometimes sport. As the legend tells, Calvin called down to the bike shop the day he was born to reserve a spot on the dream team that is the Outdoor Motion bike shop crew. If you see Calvin out and about be sure to ask him about the latest in mountain bike axle standards. Chances are he can provide you with the most up to date information available. Calvin enjoys buying very expensive and exotic bicycles and preserving them by hanging them on a hook in his garage. Calvin has bounced in and out of our lives several times over the years, however he never officially files his retirement papers so we welcome him back with open arms.

Trevor is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth. Upon graduation, he decided to grow a glorious ponytail. He raced on the Hutchinson High School Mountain Bike Team and is much faster than he looks. During his senior year he was the 5th fastest high school mountain biker in the state of Minnesota. He claims he is fast due to the fact that he enjoys a “Quarter Chicken Dark” from the Hutch Cafe before each and every one of his races. His hobbies include taking selfies with Luke Myers, grillin’ weenies and listening to Michael Jackson songs. When Trevor was in middle school he was part of a Unicycle club. Trevor also enjoys skiing, listening to the B-52’s (a band that includes one of his distant relatives), and doing karate. Trevor is unique in the fact that he quit and came back three separate times and we were delighted to have him back each time he bounced back into our lives. He is currently an electrical engineer for Emerson Engineering.
